This week we are highlighting Angela Woodward as our provider of the week! Angela is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Angela has been part of the Relias Healthcare team since 2018. Read below about her experience working in the DCH Health System. 

Favorite things about working for Relias Healthcare?

My favorite thing about working for Relias Healthcare is that they are a wonderful group of people that care about their providers. 

Favorite part about working in the ED?

My favorite thing about working in the emergency department at DCH is that one minute you’re taking care of a trauma patient and the next minute you’re being a family doctor or pediatrician. There’s so much variety in what you get to see and do. A week doesn’t go by that I am surprised by something that comes through our doors. 

Most impactful career moment thus far?

It took place on April 27, 2011. That was the day that Tuscaloosa was hit by what was one of the most powerful tornadoes in history. It amazes me how the medical community came together to care for over 600 patients that day. The love, compassion, and care that the medical community gave to the patients that day is the reason we practice medicine. 

Best safety/care advice? 

If you treat your patients like they are your family, you can never go wrong.

Favorite thing about your community? 

My favorite thing about my community is that even though Tuscaloosa is one of the largest cities in our state, it feels like a small town because of the people. 

Anything else you would like to share?

I am married to Dr. Doug Woodward. We have two teenage children, Hannah and Nate.  I grew up in Mississippi. I attend Calvary Baptist Church. I have four dogs 20 chickens and five goats.
