The Emergency Medicine Fellowship is led by Program Director Dr. Scotty Reed.

Dr. Reed has served as the Assistant Medical Director of the Physician Fellowship since its inception in 2016 and is the Assistant Medical Director of the NMMC-Tupelo Emergency Department. His role focuses on medical education activities relevant to the practice of emergency medicine.
NMMC-Tupelo, in conjunction with Relias Healthcare, supports a physician fellowship now training its 6th class of fellows and an APC fellowship that was accredited by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in May of 2020.
Dr. Reed is board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine (UMMC) in 2002 and from the emergency medicine residency at UMMC in 2006. Dr. Reed returned to his roots in North Mississippi following his residency.
Dr. Reed is assisted by Bethany Garner, PA-C. Garner serves as the administrative director of education for Relias Healthcare, as well as the lead APC for the company. She serves as the liaison between the APC and Physician fellowships. Her efforts to advance the program have brought about the addition of cutting-edge simulation equipment which will be used to enhance the education of our fellows and advanced practice clinicians. The simulation-based training that our fellows and APCs will receive will prepare them for complex clinical situations.
Bethany Garner, PA-C is the administrative director for both the physician and advanced practice provider emergency medicine fellowship programs. Contact her for additional information regarding the program and application process.
