The Emergency Medicine Fellowship is led by Program Director Dr. Val Serio.
“As a full-time emergency physician, I have spent a significant amount of time bedside teaching nurses, advanced practice providers, medical students, and anyone who is interested. I have an intense passion for sharing the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years. When the medical director, Dr. Johnsey, approached me about the concept of an Emergency Medicine fellowship, I was sold right away.
Our goal for the fellowship is to train the most qualified candidates to become the best emergency medicine physicians in the country. I have inquired and secured the full support of our emergency medicine physician group and the medical staff all the way up to the highest levels of the administration.
The curriculum that we have designed includes didactic sessions, emergency medicine shifts, and rotations with frequently consulted specialists to fill in the knowledge gap after completion of a family medicine or an internal medicine residency.
Our goal is that after their year with us, each graduate of the program can stand alone in any ED, large or small, and be able to handle any acute medical emergency.
I am honored to be involved with this program. I look forward to leading a group of fellows into the fascinating world of emergency medicine.”
