Relias Healthcare Celebrates One Year with DCH Health System
At the inception of Relias Healthcare in 2014, the team had a dream of not just staffing emergency departments in the North Mississippi region, but providing healthcare across state lines and becoming a regional emergency medicine staffing company for all of the Southeast.
One year ago, on September 1, 2018, that dream became a reality. Relias Healthcare expanded into Tuscaloosa and took over management and physician staffing of the DCH Health System’s Emergency Departments at DCH Regional Medical Center, Northport Medical Center, and Fayette Medical Center.
DCH Health System has been a healthcare staple in the Tuscaloosa community for over 90 years and has served a large portion of Tuscaloosa residents through their Level II Trauma Center and community hospitals.
Today, after one year of being part of the DCH Health System, Relias has proven success from the beginning. Since partnering with DCH, Relias has decreased the door to provider wait time from 90 minutes to less than 39 minutes. Additionally, they have improved the LWOT (leave without treatment) from an average of 6% to an average of 1.27%, and these are just a few of the metrics that have been improved!
“Since the arrival of Relias Healthcare to Northport, there has been a significant improvement in the cohesiveness of the nursing staff and accountability of physicians,” said Dr. Jimmy Tu, Medical Director for DCH-Northport. “Our nurses have driven our metrics by providing direct bedding, and the physicians follow suit”
Because of these improvements, the ED is able to operate more effectively and efficiently, while also giving each patient the time and attention that they deserve. Each day the Relias Healthcare team is working to provide quality care, all while keeping their patients at the forefront.
“At Relias, we pride ourselves on the fact that we are not a large national contract management group. Our providers live in the communities that we serve,” said Luke West, CEO. “We know the needs of the community, and we strive to meet those needs.”
Relias Healthcare continues to grow each year with over 100 providers, and over 250,000 annual visits. Though Relias continues to grow, their principal statement remains the same: our providers are our priority, our hospitals are our partners, and our patients are our purpose.
