Senior Accountant

Job PURPOSE

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various accounting and finance tasks for Relias Healthcare, its subsidiaries, and its affiliated entities (RH). This position supports the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations and upholding the core accounting functions of the Company. The Senior Accountant must prioritize accuracy, attention to detail, and adaptability in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.

Duties and responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will approach all responsibilities through the lens of the organization’s core values, grouped into the following categories

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and documented.
  • Support external audits and reviews by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

  • Assist with complex incentive-based provider pay calculations, bringing creativity and precision to problem-solving.
  • Support the finance department in building strong, scalable processes as the company expands.
  • Leverage accounting software and advanced tools to optimize daily tasks (experience with Sage is a plus).

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, ledgers, and financial statements.
  • Review account reconciliations prepared by staff accountants and complete complex account reconciliations.
  • Analyze business transactions and financial data to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure accuracy.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing adjusting journal entries.
  • Prepare accounts receivable invoices to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Assist with the reconciliation and oversight of the company credit card program to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

Experience:

  • 3 years experience in public or corporate accounting role required
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Sage is a plus)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Knowledge, Skill & Ability

Ability to flourish in a team management system and enjoy working with a cohesive team.  Competent use of the Microsoft office suite of products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required.  Attention to detail is key.

Language Ability

Ability to read, write and clearly speak the English language.  Ability to read, write and clearly speak the Spanish language a plus.   Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with multiple linguistic cultural variables

Working Conditions:

  • The Senior Accountant will work in the corporate office in Tupelo, MS.

Physical Requirements:

  • Move-Traverse: The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Operate: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Stationary: Must be able to remain in a stationary position while completing job functions
