Payroll Supervisor

Job purpose

The Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulations for Relias Healthcare, its subsidiaries, and its affiliated entities (RH). The Payroll Supervisor must possess a focus on accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the desire to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing organization. This position will work side by side with the Human Resources team to support the vision and growth of the organization.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for, including but not limited to, processing payroll, reviewing timesheets, calculating wages, and issuing paychecks or direct deposits.
  • Supervise and mentor payroll specialist, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to maintain accurate employee records and data integrity.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees, RH providers, and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly with operational team members and RH providers.
  • Function in accordance with established standards, RH procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or significant work experience in lieu of degree
  • 5 years of experience in payroll processing and supervision
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency in payroll software (experience with UKG preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across teams
  • Supervisory experience and leadership skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred


Knowledge, Skill & Ability
Ability to flourish in a team management system and enjoy working with a cohesive team. Competent use of the Microsoft office suite of products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Attention to detail is key.

Language Ability
Ability to read, write and clearly speak the English language. Ability to read, write and clearly speak the Spanish language a plus. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with multiple linguistic cultural variables.

Reasoning and Mental Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Self-directing and organized. Ability to reason objectively. Ability to interpret state/ federal/agency regulations. Ability to document concisely, accurately and in a timely manner. Ability to handle a variety of duties which may be interrupted or changed by immediate circumstances. The ability to make appropriate decisions based on facts and knowledge is required.

Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, co-workers, administration, physicians and providers, community agencies, referral sources, regulators, and other health team members. Ability to enlist the cooperation of others.

Working conditions

The Payroll Supervisor will work from Tupelo, MS with the team on a regular basis, but can perform many of the functions of this position remotely. Alternate locations can be negotiated.

Physical requirements

  • Move-Traverse: The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Operate: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Stationary: Must be able to remain in a stationary position while completing job functions
