Controller
Job PURPOSE
The Controller will be responsible for managing financial reporting, accounting operations, and the budgeting process on a full-time basis for Relias Healthcare, its subsidiaries, and its affiliated entities (RH). The Controller must possess a focus on accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the desire to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing organization. This position will work side by side with senior financial leadership and the operations team to support the vision and growth of the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
The Controller will approach all responsibilities through the lens of the organization’s core values, grouped into the following categories

- Hire, train, and retain skilled finance and accounting staff.
- Communicate clearly with operational team members and RH providers.
- Provide management with vital financial information to support decision-making.
- Foster collaboration and accountability across teams by distributing and reviewing monthly budget-to-actual results with senior leadership and group heads.

- Continually evaluate and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of RH financial systems and software.
- Assess and improve accounting operations and practices, offering recommendations for innovation.
- Implement and execute financial procedures to support scale of rapidly growing organization.

- Design, maintain, and oversee RH financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and proper accounting estimates.
- Manage the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinate internal audits and manage requests from external auditors to maintain regulatory compliance.

- Plan, direct, and oversee all operational accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Prepare weekly and monthly operating cash flow projections to support operational needs.
- Produce financial statements and related presentations for senior management and the Board.
- Coordinate the preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports.
- Work with the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to plan and coordinate the annual operating budget, including recommendations on key assumptions.

- Review, interpret, and analyze financial and statistical data for senior management, providing logical explanations for variances.
- Operate in accordance with established standards, RH procedures, and applicable laws.
- Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning, workers’ compensation, and compliance matters.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support organizational goals.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Ten years experience in finance related position with extensive knowledge of corporate finance required, healthcare experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience required.

- Experience with ERP or General ledger systems, Sage/Intaact and UKG experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability
Ability to flourish in a team management system and enjoy working with a cohesive team. Competent use of the Microsoft office suite of products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Attention to detail is key.
Language Ability
Ability to read, write and clearly speak the English language. Ability to read, write and clearly speak the Spanish language a plus. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with multiple linguistic cultural variables.

Working Location:
- The Controller will work from the Corporate Office in downtown Tupelo, MS.

- Senior accountant
- Staff accountant
Physical Requirements:
- Move-Traverse: The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Operate: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Stationary: Must be able to remain in a stationary position while completing job functions
