Joe Johnsey serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Relias Healthcare. Joe is an emergency medicine physician who has been practicing since 2006. Joe is a lifetime resident of Mississippi. Joe received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Washington University. He received a Masters in Business Administration from Auburn University in 2018. Joe is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a fellow of that college since 2009.
Dr. Johnsey founded Relias Healthcare in 2015. Since then the organization has grown to include more than 100 clinicians caring for over 250,000 patients a year. He works with clinicians and healthcare systems to find means to streamline patient flow and improve the quality of patient care. Joe also shares his years of experience in medical leadership to develop those traits in frontline clinicians in the organization.
In the past, Dr. Johnsey has worked on programs to decrease opioid use and diversion. Other initiatives he has poured his efforts into include implementation of split-flow patient streaming and promotion of temperature management therapy in cardiac arrest. Dr. Johnsey has worked with numerous pre-hospital agencies in provider development and training. Most recently, Joe has found his passion in combating burnout in clinicians.
